On your more challenging days, what keeps your motivation going?

The thought that I have everything I need, whereas in Bolivia and Colombia there are people who fight every day for survival.

Many people don't know this about me, but...

I stood onstage at the Volkshaus, Kongresshaus Zürich and at the Hallenstadion!

I am proud of Red Drop because...

In all these years, we have always managed to keep the focus on people and never on the recognition of our work.

On your more challenging days, what keeps your motivation going?

I often find extra motivation in nature. When I realize that I'm not getting anywhere, it helps me to take a little break in the countryside. A walk with my family gets my head going again. And if I really can't go on, a good coffee usually helps!

Many people don't know this about me, but...

I've discovered ice baths in recent years. It's the perfect mix of challenge and refreshment. It's like a little break for the body, and somehow you feel really alive afterwards.

I am proud of Red Drop because...

Something big can come from something small. In Red Drop lies the power to initiate change and open up new paths. Even though we are a small association, I see time and again how committed volunteers (including the Board) put their heart and soul into our issues. Red Drop reminds me that life is always about having the courage to try new things and to grow, even in small “drops”.

On your more challenging days, what keeps your motivation going?

When I need that extra kick of motivation, it often helps me either to hit the gym or be around my boyfriend's positive energies. Movement and good music are good ways for me to maintain the momentum and stay cool. I also find it very helpful to visit my family, as they are always a source of warmth and security.

Many people don't know this about me, but...

It's a little tricky for me to fall asleep. In the evenings, I enjoy drinking a relaxing night tea. I also love complete darkness in the room - yes, I'm one of those people who needs to switch off every little source of light in a hotel room! Plus, I need SILENCE. Therefore, when I travel, I always bring a sleeping mask and ear plugs with me.

I am proud of Red Drop because...

We achieve so much with so little! We are a small team and we all give 100%. I am so proud that we have such a personal and trustworthy association. I know that 100% of all donations go to our cause and we also pay everything out of our own pockets beforehand to ensure this. I am also really proud of Veronica, our director in Bolivia, who has driven the Red Drop forward and achieved such a great reputation.

The feeling of getting something constructive done.

Many people don't know this about me, but...

I am part of Red Drop right from its inception.

I am proud of Red Drop because...

We are growing year over year and can truly make a difference. We are able to engage a lot of young people in our cause, so that the organization has a bright future ahead.

On your more challenging days, what keeps your motivation going?

When I am very tired and need extra energy and motivation, I think of all the children in Colombia and the patients in Bolivia who benefit from our projects. I remember their stories, everything they have been through, their suffering and how they welcomed us with great joy and gratitude every time we visited the projects. Their resilience and zest for life, despite difficult and often inhumane circumstances, are an inexhaustible source of motivation for me.

Many people don't know this about me, but...

During my medical studies, I wanted to become a pediatrician. After arriving in Switzerland, I first had to get to grips with the language. I was given the opportunity to start my first job in surgery. Here the reports were less complicated and the focus was on practical work. Surgery and working in the operating room fascinated me so much that I became a trauma surgeon. There are few places where I feel as comfortable as in the operating room.

I am proud of Red Drop because...

Through our work, we help to improve the lives of the people who need our support the most.

On your more challenging days, what keeps your motivation going?

When I'm feeling down or particularly challenged, I love to meet with my friends to have a good laugh! I am known to be quite expressive and laughing is one of my favorite things to do. Trying to surround myself with positive energies helps me get through the tougher days.

Many people don't know this about me, but...

I wrote a fiction novel when I was 14! I always loved writing and when I started high school I felt inspired to transcribe my experiences into a novel, inspired by real life characters. Ask me about it, I may have one or two copies left...

I am proud of Red Drop because...

I know that each and every person in this organization truly cares about the cause. We stay true to our values and walk the talk. When you make a donation or participate to an event, you know that all your efforts will directly go to those in need. We are small, yet mighty!

On your more challenging days, what keeps your motivation going?

I am motivated by the thought that I can make a positive difference and help others through my commitment. I am also inspired by small successes and people who pursue their goals with passion and dedication.

Many people don't know this about me, but...

I love being creative, especially through painting and writing short stories for children. It gives me a balance and joy in my everyday life.

I am proud of Red Drop because...

We help mothers to take an active and controlling role despite the difficult journey they go through with their children during treatment. Regardless of the outcome of the treatment process, the workshops teach them how to sew or knit, giving them a skill that will stay with them for life. This craft gives them the opportunity to earn an additional income and thus sustainably improve their living conditions and those of their families.
